About Us

Bowmer Bond can trace its origins back to 1795 when Morton Bond started his tape manufacturing business in Morrey, Staffordshire. The company was later merged with John Bowmer and Sons.

Our main manufacturing site in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, is a Victorian Textile Mill which dates back to 1866 and is set in picturesque countryside adjacent to the River Dove at the gateway to the beautiful Derbyshire Dales. We also have a second weaving mill in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

The company is proud of its heritage and has made every effort to retain the natural beauty of the site whilst developing the original floor space from 35000 sq ft (3251m2) to its current size of 54000 sq ft (5016m2) which houses high-tech, high-speed needle looms.

The Bowmer Bond workforce is made up of over 100 employees, all highly skilled in their own areas of expertise, with many of them being long-serving or following in their families’ footsteps, along with many staff members who have brought new ideas and working practices to the business.

In September 2022, Bowmer Bond became an EOT company!

This is a pivotal moment and an exciting time in the long 227-year history of our business, securing the future and giving long-term stability and security for employment.

The ownership of Bowmer Bond has transferred to a Trust, set up on behalf of, and for the benefit of, our employees.

By forming an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT), the previous owner and the Board of Directors believe that the company can best serve its customers, employees and all other stakeholders by retaining the values and culture which sit at the heart of the business.

Today, Bowmer Bond Narrow Fabrics Limited is an employee-owned company engaged in the manufacture of Woven Narrow Fabrics and Webbing Assemblies.

The company has operated from the same location in Ashbourne, Derbyshire for over 200 years. With over 1100 live customers operating in diverse markets, Bowmer Bond offers a broad range of solutions along with flexibility and customization options, permitted by our own capacity, capabilities and processes.

Our solutions are split into five main categories:

Heritage Victorian Textile Loom

We work primarily with our customers to customise webbing solutions to meet end-use specific requirements. With such a rich history and significant expertise in the development of narrow fabrics, we have developed thousands of product variants over the years.

However, if a requirement is not currently within the Bowmer Bond product portfolio, we offer a Product Development service where the webbing solution is tailored to meet the bespoke requirements of the customer.
